Special Message of the Managing Director

Lasantha Sriyakanthi

“UN convention on the children with special needs is an international human rights treaty.
In accordance with that, the disability of a person is a conception or an aspiration that grow gradually in society.
Disability is born as a result of the interactions as obstacles and barriers when attempting to involve freely and trying to interfere fully or partially, when certain activities are going to be happen in society. If you had summed it up, it’d be misunderstanding and general ignorance from the public as well as the environment.
Under these circumstances not only the disable person, but also the family members of him/her will become socially under pressure.
I became poignantly aware of the problems parents face when trying to obtain services—and even basic human rights for their special needs child.
This discrimination against basic human rights compelled me to start Special Needs Network to promote social justice, equality, and dignity for children with disabilities.
We strive to support community integration for individuals with special needs towards the goal of living independent, productive, and joyful lives. We advocate for stable and healthy environments individuals with special needs and their families.”
